Race Engineering is a company that was founded by Bob Thornton. In the beginning, it was a company that manufactured engines for Ford, Pontiac, and Mazda racers. Over the years, Race Engineering became focused on Miata engines for club racing and street performance as well as offering other services and products.

In 2014, Chris Graham took ownership and has continued to help Race Engineering grow and improve in every facet of the company. He has brought new energy and confidence to a company that had already set the standard for what to expect from an engine builder. Race Engineering has continued to improve on innovative processes and delivery times while concentrating on quality assurance with streamlined, well organized support. Chris has also gained attention from national magazines and car manufacturers. In 2017, Engine Builder Magazine named Chris’s Miata Supercharger build Engine of the Week Sponsored by Cometic Gasket, Inc. and runner up for Engine Builder of The Year! In 2018, Chris was named the recipient of the Spirit of Mazda Award presented by Mazda Motorsports for the month of April!

Since Chris took ownership, Race Engineering has expanded to include all engines and all build types. Not only do we build engines for racing, we now build engines for Autocross, drifting, track days/events, and street applications. We also don’t just focus on small block work, we also work with big blocks as well. If we didn’t mention what you are looking for, feel free to give us a call. To date, Race Engineering has built more than 3,500 engines! “Big, little, or small. We do it all!”

Prior to becoming the new owner of Race Engineering, Chris has been building engines for over 20 years and has been balancing this passion with his technical experience as a premier IT specialist, working over the years for one of the most prestigious car companies in the world, it became a match made in heaven when he took over this enterprise.
