Race Engineering is a small, family oriented company that has well over 50 years of engine building knowledge. The name Race Engineering has always been known for creating championship winning Spec Miata engines and has been building engines longer than any other builder with no one coming close to our reliability and winning record. Spec Miata continues to be the most competitive running group for both, SCCA and NASA, so as we continue to build Spec Miata engines, we also build and rebuild engines for all organizations and classes. Sports Car Club of America (SCCA), National Auto Sport Association (NASA), American Endurance Racing (AER), World Racing League (WRL), and Champcar Endurance Series just to name a few.

We stand behind all of our race engines with personal support. Race Engineering also works with clients to create street, drift, track car, and Autocross builds. Race Engineering is a company that was founded by Bob Thornton. In the beginning, it was a company that manufactured engines for Ford, Pontiac, and Mazda racers. Over the years, Race Engineering became focused on Miata engines for club racing and street performance as well as offering other services and products.
